Catch the K-Wave Club is a Year-Round extension of the AKEEP-STARTALK Program, which is granted by the National Security Agency, National Cryptologic Center. Therefore, it is nationally recognized as a secondary school club. AKEEP’s primary focus is for junior high and high school students who are interested in Korean language and culture. Each week, students will actively engage in learning about Korean language, culture, and history through popular K-pop music, K-dramas, K-games, AKEEP’s Challenge America programs and events, and other educational and relevant means. Most importantly, the students will learn about a critical-need foreign language related to U.S. national security, professional career opportunities, international study abroad opportunities, AKEEP’s partner organizations related to STARTALK programs, and much more. Most members are expected to become a leader in the associated school and community beyond being an academic honor student at their prospective school.
